Immanuel Presbyterian Church joined the More Light Presbyterian network of churches over a decade ago.

The mission of More Light Presbyterians (www.mlp.org)

Following the risen Christ, and seeking to make the Church a true community of hospitality, the mission of More Light Presbyterians is to work for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society.

MLP’s logo reflects our mission and incorporates the communion elements of bread and wine, as well as rainbow colors evocative of stained glass church windows. These elements express the hospitality of Christ, and of the welcoming church movement, and the theology and practice of the open table. We are called together as many grains that form one bread. We share one cup.

We choose to open our doors so that all may hear the Good News and serve Jesus. We choose love over fear. We believe this is the path Jesus took.

This means that we will continue to seek ways to be accessible for all. A handicap accessible building, mutuality in worship and mission by honoring our God given diversity, rejecting racism, and becoming more intergenerational are all ways of being More Light to each other and the community. It takes heart, work and generous portions of the Grace of God to live into our identity as a More Light Congregation and we do so with pride and overwhelming love.

We continue to work for change, trusting the work of the Holy Spirit.

We especially support and affirm those who are hurt by the church's decisions, offering compassion and solidarity to those denied the opportunity to serve the church.

Above all, we pray for the church we love and the church as a whole, and ask for your prayers in our journey.
